OEIL - Observatory of environment


Observatory to monitor the evolution of the quality of environment in the viscinity of a huge mining facility in the southern province of New Caledonia. Wide governance board: participation of local policy makers, mining companies, environmental NGO, scientific community and local community representatives. Developpement of efficient communication tools(GIS, newletters, etc).

-Multi-stakeholder, participative approaches   -Thematic program of structure that builds multi-actor partnerships (science-society), in order to i) clearly formulate societal needs that could be addressed through science and ii) ensure the transfert of knowledge to the defined audience)-Knowledge transfer, by simplification of expert knowledge to no specialized audience-Public awareness campaign; environmental education
