Good practice guidelines for tropical and subtropical biodiversity conservation

A list of good practices was identified by the NetBiome partners in the various ORs and OCTs. in one or more of the following categories:

  • Characterization of biodiversity
  • Drivers of evolution
  • Biodiversity management
  • Governance and policies.

Good practices comply with one or more of the following criteria:

  • Significant contribution to conservation of biodiversity and ecological effectiveness
  • Provision of further environmental and socio-economic benefits
  • Applicability/transferability to other regions
  • Sustainability (i.e. projects remain beyond the initial funding)
  • Adaptive management of biodiversity (allowing to cope with change of environmental conditions, e.g. climate change)
  • Good governance (involvement of relevant stakeholders and integration of different interests perspectives and needs)
  • Generating multiplier/imitation effects
